Now Playing XML

Rhythmbox plugin that generates an XML document containing the current song information.

Installation

Open your favorite terminal and type:

$ wget http://projects.kflorence.com/programming/rhythmbox/nowplaying-xml.0.1.tar.gz
$ tar -xzf nowplaying-xml.0.1.tar.gz -C $HOME/.gnome2/rhythmbox/plugins
$ rm nowplaying-xml.0.1.tar.gz

Usage

First, enable the plugin. Go to Edit → Plugins, find Now Playing XML and check the box next to it.

An XML file will automatically be created which contains current song information (Default location: "/tmp/nowplaying.xml"). This can be edited in the __init__.py file for now (might make this easier later if requested).

XML file structure:

<nowplaying>
  <song>
    <album>album</album>
    <track-number>track</track-number>
    <title>title</title>
    <artist>artist</artist>
    <genre>genre</genre>
    <duration>duration (in seconds)</duration>
    <bitrate>bitrate</bitrate>
  </song>
</nowplaying>
